Oct. 22âMINNEAPOLIS â Rochester Mayo has made it safely back into the state Class 3A girls tennis final where it will face the winner of No. 2 seed Edina and No. 3 Minnetonka.
The No. 1 seeded Spartans are the two-time defending state Class 3A state champions and are favored to make it a third time as titlists.
Mayo got there by beating Mounds View 4-3 on Wednesday morning at the University of Minnesota’s Baseline Tennis Center. Mayo swept the four singles spots with ease, while Mounds View won at all three doubles positions.
Mayo takes a 24-0 record into the state final, which will be at 4 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center. Mayo is 75-0 over the past three seasons.
The other semifinal, which pairs No. 2 Edina with No. 3 Minnetonka, begins at 10 a.m. this morning.
