Cougarâs Loheider advances
JASPER â The Barr-Reeve Vikings tennis team and NDâs Coby Loheider continued to advance in the Wednesday matches at Jasper.
The Cougarâs Loheider took on Carson Beck from Northeast Dubois on Wednesday evening at the Jasper Tennis Complex. Loheider picked apart a big-hitting junior in a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 marathon.
âIâm very proud of Coby. He has that donât give up attitude. Thatâs a quality you love to have on your team,â ND coach Adam Schulte.
Loheider is now in a holding pattern until the team results are determined Thursday evening to see if a individual sectional championship is needed or not.
The Barr-Reeve Vikings Tuesday match at the Jasper Regional with Sullivan was initially delayed, however, that didnât stop B-R from coming back with a 5-0 win on Wednesday. The win moved B-R to 21-2 for the season.
At No. 1, Xavier Meiring beat Hunter Pinkston 6-4, 6-4, Daniel Underwood beat Carter Mischler 6-0, 6-2 and Eli Ash beat Samuel Couch 6-2, 6-2 to complete the singles sweep.

IHSAA Individual matches underway
JASPER â The IHSAA individual singles and doubles got underway on Tuesday at the Yarborough Tennis Complex in Jasper, although the team matches with Barr-Reeve, Jasper Sullivan and Lincoln were all pushed back to Wednesday.
In Washingtonâs two matches, Josh Meredith lost to Northeast Duboisâ Carson Beck, 3-6,4-6. The doubles team of Hayden Tomey and Brody Armes lost to Vincennes Rivetâs Miles Holka and Max Weiss, 3-6,0-6.
âItâs a tough way to end the season, but I couldnât be prouder of this group. They battled all year, showed class in every match, and grew not just as players but as people. Losing in sectionals hurts, but these kids have a lot to be proud of,â said WHS coach Jason Johnston.
North Daviess Cougarâs No. 1 Coby Loheider took on Bloomfieldâs Will Dowden Tuesday as well. Loheiderâs steady play took down Dowden 6-4, 6-4.
Schulte said, âLoheider played well tonight. He was patient with his game. Coby was selective when he wanted to be aggressive and come into the net which forced Dowden into errors.â
Loheider takes on another tough tasked against NE Duboisâs hard hitter Carson Beck in his next match.
